About the card
The Egyptian Maestro card ($100) is for Egyptian online services that do not accept foreign cards. Maestro is a Mastercard brand; check that the merchant accepts Maestro before paying.
If an Egyptian merchant declines the card
| Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|
| Billing address or postcode does not match | Enter the billing details exactly as shown for your card in My Cards. |
| 3D Secure step not finished | Complete the verification prompt. If no code arrives, contact our support before retrying. |
| Balance too low | Keep the balance above the charge plus any currency conversion. Some merchants place a small temporary hold first. |
| Merchant expects another card country or network | Check that the merchant accepts Maestro; some accept Mastercard but not Maestro. |
| Too many attempts in a row | Stop after two or three tries. Repeated declines can trigger fraud checks; wait and contact support. |
| Service not offered where you live | A card cannot change a merchant's country rules. Check the merchant's supported countries. |
We do not recommend VPNs, fake addresses or other ways of hiding your location. They break most merchants' terms and can get your account closed.
